Bos Wars is a futuristic real time strategy game (RTS). In a RTS game, the player has to combat his enemies while developing his war economy. Everything runs in real-time, as opposed to turn-based games where the player always has to wait for his turn. The trick is to balance the effort put into building his economy and building an army to defend and attack the enemies.
Bos Wars has a dynamic rate based economy. Energy is produced by power plants and magma gets pumped from hot spots. Buildings and mobile units are also built at a continuous rate. Control of larger parts of the map creates the potential to increase your economy throughput. Holding key points like roads and ages allow for different strategies.
It is possible to play against human opponents over LAN, internet, or against the computer.

The way the language switching works with Bos Wars is very odd, in that the default (English) doesn't adhere to the same scheme as the rest of the languages. Since there are two different entries in the preferences file (and the English files are named completely different), simply setting the default differently is not possible. I'm either going to try convincing the developers to fix this, or I may have to hack up some custom code to handle this.
Works on XP SP3 with Power permissions.

It runs REALLY slowly for me. Not sure if it's a Bos Wars thing or a portability thing.

Could you try installing Bos Wars from their website and tell me if it still runs slow? Either way, I don't know of anything that would do that in the portable package for it.
Also try speeding up the game using the ingame options. I found that the game seemed to run slow too but I sped it up and was acceptable.

boswars.com doesn't have a link to the Windows build of this, so this entire time I didn't think there was one. I finally looked around to see if anyone did it, but it seems there's an official one on the stratagus site.
