Configure Chrome profile folder path

Tried to use GoogleChromePortable.ini to tell Chrome to place the profile folder somewhere else on the hard drive, to no avail. It appears that, no matter what, the path needs to be an extension of PortableApps\GoogleChromePortable\," whereas I want the profile folder to be outside of that path. Can this be done?

Relative

The directory is relative to GoogleChromePortable.exe. So, you *might* be able to use ..\ to go up a directory. If you had Google Chrome Portable installed to X:\PortableApps\GoogleChromePortable and wanted to use X:\MyChromeProfile it would be ..\..\MyChromeProfile in the ProfileDirectory= line.

Note that this is not officially ed and will likely break when the Google Chrome Portable launcher is eventually rewritten.

Yes

The standard launcher in settings file in the root of each app is preserved by the pa.c installer as you update.

feature

Thank you! You may consider making this a permanent/d feature of PortableApps, as more and more people install their PortableApps in the cloud (Google Drive), hence moving the data folder somewhere else in a local folder makes sense in order to avoid conflicts.

Works In Data

Using Google Chrome Portable with the profile within Data worked without issue last I tested. Is there something wrong with having all of your GoogleChromePortable folder with the profile in your Google Drive?

Conflicts

I get lots of conflicts ("[Conflict]"), which is unavoidable, as I use PortableChrome on multiple computers at the same time: if two or more computers use the same file at the same time, that file cannot be synced, hence the conflict. In time, these conflict files pile up and end up mes the syncing engine eventually.

Ideally, PortableApss should provide some way to allow configuring any PortableApp so as to store the Data folder outside of the syncing path.
