ScreenshotjPortable Browser Switch allows you to easily enable and disable the jPortable Java browser plugin so that you can continue to use Java with apps like LibreOffice Portable while making Java unavailable to your portable browsers like Firefox Portable and Chrome Portable. This can be useful for security reasons or simple convenience.

Important Note: Even with the jPortable Java browser plugin disabled, your browser may use the local machine's Java plugin if Java is installed. It can be disabled within Add-Ons in Firefox; chrome://plugins within Chrome, Iron, or Chromium; about:plugins within Opera and similar locations in other browsers.

After disabling the Java plugin with the jPortable Browser Switch 1.0 I looked in the Add-On manager of Firefox Portable. But I can't find an appropriate entry "Java (TM) Platform SE 7 U10 10.10.2.18". Therefore it's impossible for me to disable the Java plugin within the Add-On manager, if my browser may use the local machine's Java plugin if Java is installed.

You can only enable/disable plugins when they are installed.

Thanks for the tip. It's logical Smile

another question 2p6c14

Assume both on the local machine as well as in the PA.com menu is installed the Java plugin. Which of the both Java plugins will use Firefox Portable?

Just out of curiosity... 1a4fc

Just out of curiosity... Simply how it works? It changes something from "/APP" directory of each portable-browser?

it renames the plugin2 folder inside CommonFiles/Java/bin/ to plugin-disabled so the portable browsers dont find java anymore.

CommonFiles/Java/bin/plugin g455g

CommonFiles/Java/bin/plugin folder is reading by browsers? Other portable apps can read java.. Am I right?

Our browsers have special code within them to find the portable Java plugin and automatically use it. When the directory is renamed, it is not found and won't be used.

jportable browser switch 3p3c18

Hello John,

I ran the switch and it just tells me that jportable was not detected!
I have it installed to D:\MisgmsNoInstallNeeded\CommonFiles\Java...
Libre Ofc is installed to D:\MisgmsNoInstallNeeded\LibreOfficePortable...

I have removed regular Java from my Laptop due to the warning that came out in January. But do not know why the 'switch' cannot fine the jportable?

I actually ran it and checked it, but it did NOT rename the plugin2 folder.

Tnx a bunch.
Sincerely,
Cindy
