Kee: How do I restore lost settings? 2v6k5v

Submitted by foxcole on October 27, 2010 - 7:56am

For no apparent reason, Kee Portable 1.18 opened with all settings reverted to default (after I've used it successfully many times).

It's easy enough to open the primary database manually so I can use the app, but how can I restore the preference settings? Reinstalling Kee doesn't help.

Launch Kee and automatically open file 3m4e3x

I know this can be done by having the .kdb file in the same location as the Kee executable but I was wondering if there is a way to do this with the file in a different location? I have mine in a different directory to make backups easier but I still would like Kee to launch and open the file simultaneously. Is that possible in the portable version?

ClamWin Bug: Can't Save Reports (Affects Portable and Local) 1b4e5n

Submitted by Alcasar on September 9, 2010 - 3:31pm

I just installed the latest version 0.96.2.1 and i still get the Error FFFF message when ever i try saving an update report.

It might have something to do with the fact that when ever i go into the preferences all the directories are blank unless i put the cursor in the blank space and move it around, then the directory appears.

Is there something wrong with the relative paths or something?

@JTH

I just updated from 96.1 to 96.2.1

I was happy to see that \Data\settings files were maintained
But
all the files in \Data\db were wiped out:
main.cvd
daily.cld
bytecode.cvd
mirrors.dat
during the update [and before the program was actually run].

Fortunately I had a copy of those files and restored them before running the program. Upon launch everything ran fine.

I THOUGHT you said after the last update, when there was a significant change in CW, that the installer would only do this if you were upgrading a version earlier than 96.1 or something like that.

After a failed DB definition update at work (probably corporate firewall related) I read the error message. At the end of the failed connection attempts I got to this

Giving up on database.clamav.net...
Update failed. Your network may be down or none of the mirrors listed in c:\s\\appdata\local\temp\tmpcbjuy5 is working. Check http://www.clamav.net//mirror-problem for possible reasons.

ClamWin: CWP Says CWP is a trojan? 1523u

Submitted by oraclex7 on September 3, 2010 - 10:55pm

Okay, strangeness abounds.

I installed the suite on my new USB HD, and just for fun thought I'd run CWP, updated the defs as it said since it was the first time running, then started scanning the USB drive, my McAfee picked up the temp files as a trojan, but I know the reason for that after looking through this forum (thanks for that answer)

But then I thought I'd scan the processes in memory... And CWP picked up itself, twice as a trojan, some generic one or other.
