Thunderbird Portable 643h13

Tools>Export 20201t

Submitted by noospam on June 4, 2025 - 5:39pm

Is Tools>Export meant to work for the portable version? I tried 3 times and zip files are successfully created. Howeverf I can't open the zip file because it says invalid.

I have the desktop version as well and that works fine.

Direct update (Help->About) not working anymore ro

Submitted by GoD on May 16, 2025 - 8:21am

Since TB 128+- I have a problem with updating TB.
Before I didn't always waited for PA to release the new version.
I clicked on Help -> About and installed the update. After a restart of TB, I had the newest version.
Now, I can update, restart TB and I'm still running the old version.
I can repeat this 10 times and nothing changes.
When I look in to the app folder, there is an update folder where the new version is inside.
When I close TB and move this folder so overwrite the existing app, I have the new version running.

Unable to start thunderbird after update today 2 May 2025 6h5v20

Thunderbird portable have always been solid for me until this morning. I have always updated to newer versions when prompted and been good except this morning. The installation stalled and my laptop froze up. So I restarted my laptop and tried to run TB but I get these error messages. It did not load at all. Can't seemed to attach image here to show error messages. So error status is 0xc0000020 and "Couldn't load XPCOM".

Importing data into a Windows Thunderbird installation / Portable version as default mail program 2b1130

Submitted by xprt007 on April 1, 2025 - 7:47am

Hi there
I have been using a portable version of Thunderbird, on partition D for a long time, but because I find no way of making it the default Windows mail program, a feature that I often need, I have installed a local version but having problems with importing the data from the portable version, because it is well over the 2GB, actually around 6GB, with many s, too cumbersome to setup anew, etc.
I see instructions for importing data into the portable version, but not the other way round.

Can't drag and drop file attachments 6w682n

Submitted by coffent on January 20, 2025 - 5:00pm

Sometimes Thunderbird Portable will let me drag and drop files to be attached to a message, other times it will not. (This morning it would; this afternoon it won't.) Is there a fix for this?
Note added a day later: Now it's working again. Wacko

Can't open attached files directly 4q4y3s

When I try to open an attached file in an email message (say "Example.pdf") I get this error message, or something similar:

"An error occurred while opening a document from the file:
C:\s\CHS2\AppData\Local\Temp\nsnD5B3.tmp\ContainedTemp\pid-20128\Example.pdf"

Based on ChatGPT, I tried adding a line like:

_pref("browser.cache.disk.parent_directory", "D:\\cDat\\Programs\\TBird\\Temp");

but Thunderbird Portable overwrites the line if it's in prefs.js and ignores it if it's in .js

When will Thundebrird v128.5.x ESR PortableApps released? 3y605h

Submitted by pstein on December 14, 2024 - 12:30pm

I need the version v128.5.* (ESR) version of Thunderbird PortableApps (and not the current v128.4.*).

v128.5.2 non-portable version is already released.

When will be the corresponding PortableApps version available?

Thunderbird 128.4.1 going straight to the Crash Reporter on Windows 11 but works fine on Windows 10 49s72

Submitted by pbajoswb on November 12, 2024 - 9:37am

The other week my computer at work was upgraded to Windows 11 after I had issues with it trying to boot.

About the same time I also got the latest update for Portable Thunderbird to update it to 128.4.1 on my portable hard-drive.

Now when I try to run Portable Thunderbird on that work computer the app window tries to display but only shows all white and then the "Thunderbird Crash Reporter" dialog opens after about 5 seconds.

Now taking the hard-drive home. I plug it into my laptop with Windows 10 running on it and everything opens normally.
