Thunderbird Portable 643h13

I'm an avid of Thunderbird, but I don't like using PTB because the e-mail files get so big (I only have a 256M drive, and I'm approaching 1GB on my desktop), and because I have no way to synchronize my e-mail.

Hi,

I have problems with imported address books (impab.mab, impab-x.mab).
If I click on an importat address book, the only message which appears is "No mathces found", but the files impab.mab, impab.mab-1, etc, exist!
So what can I do that my address books are syncronized?

I have a problem to Portable Thunderbird. The folder grow in sizes. I purge a 'trash' 'Local Folder' but the size folder can not reduce size.

My USB memory size is 128MB of capacity, and I can not which a folder grow any more if conect for e-mails.

Somebody help me. Thank you.

I have been following this portable apps development with great interest as it ideally suits me. I do have my own laptop but without internet access.I can use the internet from the library.
The problem is I think the library PCs do not allow portable thunderbird to access the mails via POP3 protocol. IS there a way to get my mails into my flash from the library computer. Every time when i try it says your connection timed out and nothing happens.
Cud any one help me out please?
on the other hand yahoo messenger works fine from portable GAIM
I am desperate to get an answer and would be very grateful if any one helps me out.

Recently I ed Protable TB (1.5.0.2)on my USB card. I am also using Portable FF.

I setup TB to manage my Gmail and Sympatico (ISP provider) through TB. As long as I am using portable TB from my home computer it works fine but when I try at my work I get the error message "Connection to server pop.gmail.com time out". Similarly, when I am using Sympatico I get "Connection to server smtp8.sympatico.ca time out".

The whole purpose of using Portable TB is to use single e-mail interface to get acces to my e-mails wheverevr I am.

I may be doing some thing wrong but so far I am unable to findout what and how to fix it.

is it possible to run thunderbird 1.5.02 and portable thunderbird 1.5.02 on a winXP at the same time.

Everytime I start portable thunderbird and thunderbird is already running (and viceversa) it says that thunderbird is already running.

Ok I just installed it and everything works well, sort of. I can receive mail but when I try to send this happens:

An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first m78sm1153226pye. Please that your email address is correct in your Mail preferences and try again.

So I check my Settings, My Outgoing Server and it says:

name - smtp.gmail.com (Default)
Description:
Server Name: smtp.gmail.com
Port: 0
Name: .........
Secure Connection: none

since I've upgraded to 1.5.0.2 yesterday, I have one problem:
Starting PortableThunderbird.exe I've got a warning message:
.... Path ..... Coudnot write to registry cause something is in use

there's a similar message if I close the program

All other thinks work fine.

Interesting is, in the path there is infront of the filename a doble backslash.

???

Sorry for cluttering up the news thread with this before...

I am upgrading from PTB, 1.5 RC1. Being slightly obsessive, I went through my old PTB folder before deleting or moving anything, looking for any files outside the Profile folder that had been updated recently, or that weren't present in the new install. I found two files that met these criteria...in fact, they met both. They are compreg.dat and xpti.dat, residing in the thunderbird\components folder.

(I notice that files with the same names as these show up in the profile folder too...duplicates?)

Should I copy these over to the new install's app\thunderbird\components folder? Delete them? Do something else?

Does anyone have any ideas? I would like to disable the splash screen. I moved the thunderbird_localbackup.reg, the thunderbird_portable.reg and the files PortableThunderbird.ini (with an added DisableSplashScreen=true line) in to the main folder and it works! Do you think moving this files will cause any harm?
