In any case I'm trying a slightly more complicated than average use of PT than I'm sure was initially anticipated / intended.

I work with windows pcs and have one windows and one linux pc at home. I'm trying to get portable thunderbird up and running via wine on the linux pc. I've heard this is possible and so attempted the following:

I've copied /PortableThunderbird/ from my usbdrive to my /home/ directory on the linux pc. I think sy. link my profile directory to my flash drive (/home/[name]/PortableThunderbird/profile ==> /media/USB1/PortableThunderbird/profile). The profile is found peachily (if I unmount the thumbdrive it begins asking me if I want to create a directory in a new location). But upon execution wine spits out:

I can send e-mail from home but not at work. what is the work around?

Il you start ThunderBird, and start PortableThunderBird at the same time, you will loss acount on PortableThunderBird profile...

This occur on the french version of PortableThunderbird, and is the same problem with US version of PortableThunderbird (v1.5)...

I'm having trouble running PTB on a few pc's...I keep getting an "NSIS error" "The installer you are trying to use is corrupted or incomplete." Etc.... It only happens on a few computers. No rhyme or reason.

Ever since I upgraded to the 1.5 RC1 version of Portable Thunderbird, I get the message "m is not a ed protocol" when I open the app. I suspect the "m" refers to the drive letter of the thumb drive that PT is running on, but I'm not sure.

If I move the Portable Thunderbird folder to the C: drive, I still get "m is not a ed protocol" when I launch it.

I've tried googling this, but haven't found a solution.

This didn't happen with 1.0.7. It only started with 1.5 RC1. Any ideas on what might be causing this or how to resolve it?

Is there any simple way to change the window title? All I want to do is change it so it says

"Inbox - Portable Thunderbird"
instead of
"Inbox - Thunderbird"

This way I can easily tell if I'm using the local copy or the one on my usb drive.

I am trying to get mail from my work computer using my charter.net and get a message that could not connect to server pop.charter.net; the connection was refused. I am using the same setting from my home computer. Any one have help on this issue.

To manaually configure or copy files from the extracted folder listed at

and have it work with PTB?

I was wondering if this would ever be implemented into PTB or if there is any way that one could go ing the profile (or appropriate files) and copy them to PTB in order to make it work?

any ideas on this? works fine in xp, but the same usb flash drive in a 98se box brings up the followin error on load.

make TB go to the system tray when you minimize it instead of cluttering up the task bar, since I have thunderbird running all the time and auto- checking for new email.
