Thunderbird Portable 643h13

Hello everyone,
I apologize in advance for my stupid question. I recently bought a new flashdrive that is not U3 enabled. I'm currently using a U3 geeksquad flash drive. I would like to transfer my email messages, addresses and settings to my new flashdrive (where I have loaded portable thunderbird).
I have tried the suggestion on the portable apps page regarding copying files from a local drive. However, I cannot find any of the thunderbird files or folders on my U3 portable drive. I went to mybrainz (developer of the U3 thunderbird) page and their strategy for transferring files did not work (using the Eudora import feature) nor have they responded to my request for (sent a week ago). Again, I'm really sorry if this is not the correct place to ask for suggestions but I've exhausted my limited repetoire for transferring data. Here is what I've tried so far:

Situation:

I have a couple of laptops that I use. I want to have a single configuration of several apps that I can use identically on each system. This includes firefox, mail client and my text editor of choice.

The issue with the mail client is I have a lot of historic email. I don't want to drag it all around on a key (security for one thing), but I do want to drag around the config of my mail client between the laptops.

I would like to use Portable Thunderbird, but only IF I can set it to store my mail on the NAS at home. Yes, that ties me to only using the mail client when on my network, but, that's not a problem. When away from home I use webmail now anyway.

I have a problem concerning portable Thunderbird. The Application is installed on a USB-Stick and is supposed to be started by a easy launch button on my notebook. Unfortunatly the launch keys can not be redefined.
The only way i can define the launch keys is to define the standard e-Mail Client. I changed the following REgistry entry :

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto\shell\open\command\E:\PORTAB~1.7_B\PORTAB~1\PORTAB~1.EXE -compose %1

But it did not help.

I've got PTB 1.5 set to check for updates to extensions but not for program updates. My thinking is that PTB is slightly different than TB and allowing the program to update itself might break it's portableness. Is this a valid assumption or is it OK to let the program update itself?

I ask because it's trying to a "security" update even though the option is turned off.

I can create message filters, but they do not remain after exiting the app. Is this known behavior?

Hi people this is my first post here. I've been using portable apps for a couple of months now. I use them mainly on my PC because it's superior to installing software. I keep them on a seperate partition so when my C: partition gets screwed or reverted to a backup I don't lose and settings, favourites or addresses etc and I need only to recreate shortcuts. Portable apps rocks! I use the FF, TB, OP, NVU, Gaim and abiword!

I got a problem with TB though. Before using the portable app I used the normal intalling version and this behaved correctly. Under the Server Settings for my I check the box "Leave messages on server for at most 90 days", this ensure that I always have a backup of my email remotely. But on this version of TB it does leave the messages on the server but everytime it checks for new email it s them again. Filling my inbox up with repeats. As I said the install version (0.9 i think) behanved correctly. Is this a quirk with the portable version or am I missing something?

Thanks for the absolutely fabulous apps: Portable Firefox and Portable Thunderbird. After a prolonged search, I can't find the solution to this problem. I have a 256 MB flash drive that is too small to the very large volume of stored mail on my SMTP server. I would like to selectively recent mail, say for the last 10 days. I can't figure how to do this in Thunderbird and can't find an extension that will allow me to designate that this is all I want. Thanks again for your help.

From the experience of Portable Firefox OSX, I've packaged a Portable Thunderbird Mac OS X version using this script so you can launch it with a double click from any device:

I want to copy my E-Mails and Profiles/Settings from my installed Thunderbird version to the Portabel Version.

What Files i have to copy and where can i find them?

immediately after creating a new , it is lost in the long list, & i have to search it painfully among thousands of entries. the scroll bar shold remain at the last entry.

more search options are required. more export options are required. more customizable address fields are required.

look up in the context menu when clicking on email addresses required.

atleast there will be some addons extensions for some additional functionality in near future, i hope.

i have finally migrated from outlook completely (lock stock & barrel) to portable TB, & also to other portable apps like OOO & abiword & been using all these for about a month.
