Thunderbird Portable 643h13

Disappearing New Message folder indication 4d3n1n

Submitted by JDMC on December 4, 2020 - 1:01pm

Hello.
I am using Thunderbird Portable Edition 78.5.0 on PortableApps platform 17.1.1. I have many (over 70) folders, most of which are populated by filters which are enabled to run automatically.
In the past, folders which had new messages were shown by a change of colour together with an asterisk. More recently, this is just shown by the colour of the folder name changing from black to blue; this is not always easy to spot, especially since my eyes are not what they were.

No folders or messages in TB Portable after power cut 6u5j6n

Hi,

We just had a power cut and now my Thunderbird Portable (78.5.0, 32-bit) is not showing any mail s, folders, or messages. I've checked my data\profile folder and I believe my folder structure and mail is there. In my data folder I have found prefs.js, and it has lots of relevant stuff in it, including lots of "mail." entries.

Can anybody help me to restore my mail please? Just for info, I use MailStore Home from time to time, but sadly not frequently enough to simply restore everything. I'd be grateful for any suggestions ...

How to launch PA Thunderbird in "Offline Mode"? No Profile Manager possible p4o5k

Submitted by pstein on November 18, 2020 - 10:22am

I read that I can launch "normal" Thunderbird with the "-p" parameter to get to the ProfileManager and switch there to "Offline Mode".

That in turn would open TB without access resp. message transfer connections in+outside.

Perfect. Thats exactly what I am searching (for temporary test purposes).

Unfortunately s cannot start PortableApps Thunderbird with the "-p" parameter..

ThunderbirdPortable.exe -p

So how else can I switch PortableApps Thunderbird to "Offline Mode"?

Thunderbird lost the profile (with temp workaround). 3b5c2b

Starting today, it was impossible to get the profile up, I was presented with a blank page.

for the moment, my workaround was to install thunderbird on my PC, click on troubleshoot, then about:profiles, and finally create a new profile by pointing to my exiting one, copied from the portable installation, and making that the default. (the portable application has to be closed at that point, or it won't allow you access).

I couldn't direct to the portable profile from the portable app, it defaults to local appdata and won't redirect to the portable.

TB 78.4.1 Fresh Install - Cannot Add Email s or open Options 1948m

I have been using TB Portable for several years, successfully. Recently, with the update to v78 and up, my TB Portable installs have started to fail (on several different systems). I still have a backup version of v68 and it seems to still be working.

Where to move data from PC to PortableApps? 55vt

Submitted by whitetiger on November 4, 2020 - 11:03am

I have Thunderbird on two PCs, one has version 68 and the other has version 78.
I want to use PortableThunderbird, but I don't understand where I have to move the folders containing the data.

Can I keep the data folders outside the PortableApps folder and point to it with some profiles.ini?

Thunderbird Legacy 68 - prevent automatic update to 78.x u1k3

To prevent Thunderbird from automatically updating to latest version, create a file named App/Thunderbird/distribution/profiles.json with the following content:

{
"policies": {
"DisableAppUpdate": true
}
}
